No posts in a long time, I know. Long COVID. Not going into that publicly for now. Energy is scarce and precious. Recovery is extremely slow.
Recently, I can spare a little bit of energy most days for something that brings me joy, and that’s usually reading a little bit of SFF.
Brain fog not cooperating for reading tonight, so tried something different.
Last month, I saw an Instagram post that RUSH had just released a special 50th anniversary collection that included some stuff I’d never heard before. Day of release it was already sold out at Rush.com so I panic bought it from Amazon, and Rick kindly put it all on my phone. RUSH is very high energy isn’t it, so I haven’t listened to any of it yet.
Treated myself to the first song tonight. One not previously released, titled “Not Fade Away.” Huh, funny that it’s the same name as that Buddy Holly song that one of my other favorite bands covers.
First few bars play and Geddy starts singing. NOOOO! WAY!
I’m used to hearing these guys play this song. Trout Fishing in America, Ezra Idlet on guitar, Keith Grimwood on bass.
Here’s the RUSH version.
Very different. But I like it!
That’s surely not Neil Peart on drums, is it? Sounds earlier.
I guess this is a good song for small bands that make a big sound!
Not Fade Away. I’m trying. Not to.
